The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Chief Conservator of Forests, Mosharraf Hossain, accusing him of amassing illegal wealth amounting to approximately Tk 1.12 billion.

According to the case filed with the ACC’s Integrated District Office in Dhaka, Mosharraf Hossain is alleged to have accumulated this wealth through abuse of power and corruption during his tenure in public service. The ACC’s investigation reportedly uncovered significant discrepancies between his known sources of income and his actual assets.

The ACC initiated the investigation following reports of unexplained wealth and assets held by Hossain, including multiple properties and substantial bank deposits. The commission stated that the former official failed to provide satisfactory explanations for the sources of his wealth during the inquiry.

This case underscores the ACC’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption within public service sectors. The commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency among government officials.

Mosharraf Hossain has yet to respond publicly to the allegations. Further legal proceedings are expected as the case progresses through the judicial system.
